<br /> <br />www.ci.mounds-view.mn.us <br />9 <br /> <br />On March 11th, the police department assisted investigators from the Blaine Police <br />Department and the FBI in the execution of a search warrant in the 2300 Block of <br />Groberg St. This led to the arrest of a 31 year old male for a bank robbery in Blaine and <br />an armed robbery of the Mounds View SuperAmerica Station. This investigation had a <br />successful outcome due to the excellent collaborative work by members of all three <br />agencies! <br /> <br />In other departmental news, Sgt Ben Zender was recently profiled in a Metropolitan State <br />University newsletter. The publication highlighted Sgt Zender’s recent graduation with a <br />Bachelor’s Degree as well as receiving the outstanding student award in the School of <br />Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. Sgt Zender has achieved a black belt in the <br />martial arts, instructed firearms safety classes for youth and participated in various fund <br />raising efforts. Sgt Zender is also a devoted family man, staying busy raising three young <br />children. <br /> <br />In February, members of the police department participated in the Cystic Fibrosis <br />Foundation Climb for the Cure. <br /> <br /> Investigator Erickson, Officer Lafean and Sgt. Zender <br />at the Climb for the Cure Event. <br /> <br />This charitable event involved 250 members of various public safety agencies climbing 50 <br />stories of the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. Members of the Mounds View Police Department <br />were part of a larger team representing the Minnesota State Patrol. A total of $282,000 was <br />raised to benefit research for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. <br /> <br /> <br />Financial Report (see attached document) <br />
