RESOLUTION 7796 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APPROVING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH MUSKA ELECTRIC COMPANY <br />FOR THE 2011 ELECTRICAL MODIFICATIONS FOR WELL NO. 2 MOTOR <br />CONVERSION PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the motor for Municipal Well No. 2 is being converted from a <br />dilapidated natural gas engine to a new variable speed electric motor; and <br />WHEREAS, the pump was lowered and a new 200 HP electric motor was <br />installed in 2010 for Well No. 2 as part of a well rehabilitation project, requiring electrical <br />equipment and modifications to the well house to make the motor operable; and <br />WHEREAS, engineering design was performed by Bolton & Menk, Inc. and a <br />quote solicitation package was developed and sent to five qualified electrical <br />contractors.; and <br />WHEREAS, three quotes were received and ranged from $55,400 to $72,450 <br />with the low quote submitted by Muska Electric Company of Roseville, Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, monies have been budgeted for 2011 under the Water Enterprise <br />Fund (700-4823-7050) for the Project. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The quote for $55,400 submitted by Muska Electric Company for construction of the <br />2011 Electrical Modifications for Well No. 2 Motor Conversion Project is hereby <br />accepted by the City. A 5% contingency of $2,800 is approved to cover potential <br />additional construction costs and requires approval by the Public Works Director. <br />2. The Public Works Director is directed to prepare a construction contract with Muska <br />Electric Company for said work at said price. <br />3. Upon satisfactory review by the City Attorney, the Mayor and City Administrator are <br />hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City, to execute and enter <br />into the construction contract with Muska Electric Company. <br />4. Bolton & Menk, Inc. is authorized to provide engineering services for the <br />construction phase of the said project on an hourly basis not to exceed $5,000. <br />5. Bolton & Menk’s design fee associated with the project is increased $3,500 for a <br />revised lump sum compensation of $23,500. <br />6. Costs associated with supplying a new main electrical service to the project site by <br />Xcel Energy is approved. <br />
