Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) Position Description Page 3/4 NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (A) Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance and; Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs.: Working knowledge of application safety precautions. Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment used. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.; Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions.; Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.; Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.understand and carry out written and oral instructions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license and CDL Class B license with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Possess a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate. Possess a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate. Valid State Driver’s license. Possess or obtain CDL certification with hazardous waste endorsement, Class D Water Supply System Operator’s Certificate, and S-C Wastewater operators certificate. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Common industry Mmotorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, skid steer, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, areole propane kettle, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch, and computer. Specialized equipment including jetting/vactor truck and underground utility televising equipment and accessories. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
