Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) Position Description <br />Page 3/4 <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> (A) Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground <br />maintenance and; Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs.: <br />Working knowledge of application safety precautions. <br /> Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment used. <br /> Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.; <br /> Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous <br />physical labor under adverse conditions.; <br /> Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.; <br /> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other <br />departments and the public.; <br /> Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.understand and carry <br />out written and oral instructions. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> Possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license and CDL Class B license with air brake and <br />tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. <br /> Possess a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate. <br /> Possess a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate. <br />Valid State Driver’s license. Possess or obtain CDL certification with hazardous waste <br />endorsement, Class D Water Supply System Operator’s Certificate, and S-C Wastewater <br />operators certificate. <br /> <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br /> Common industry Mmotorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, <br />utility truck, skid steer, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, areole propane kettle, <br />compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, <br />detection devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch, and computer. <br /> Specialized equipment including jetting/vactor truck and underground utility televising <br />equipment and accessories. <br /> <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
