Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) Position Description <br />Page 2/4 <br /> Makes recommendations to the Public Works Supervisor on operating matters of the <br />department including personnel, equipment, and work procedures that will improve the <br />functioning of the Public Works Department to provide better maintenance and service. <br /> Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in compliance with <br />applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regulations. Also recognizes <br />potential hazards in the work environment and notifies Public Works Supervisor for corrective <br />action. <br /> Purchases operational supplies with responsibility and in accordance with City Purchasing <br />Policy. <br />Maintains or repairs equipment as apparent or assigned, within knowledgeable limits to ensure <br />vehicles and equipment are in good repair and appearance. <br /> Maintains knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals used in departmental <br />programs. <br /> Performs manual labor including, but not limited to, lifting, painting, tree trimming, planning, and <br />removal, the use of hand tools, compacting materials with hand of mechanical equipment. <br />Keeps City facilities and equipment in a neat and clean order. <br /> Keeps accurate records of time sheets, job activity sheets, televising records, fuel log sheets, <br />vehicle and equipment maintenance reports, water test, asbuilts, and other related or required <br />data. <br /> Responds to citizens requests and complaints in a manner consistent with the City policies and <br />regulations and promotes and maintains a favorable image of the City through positive <br />community relations. <br /> Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in compliance with <br />applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regulations. Also recognizes <br />potential hazards in the work environment and notifies Pubic Works Foreman for corrective <br />action. <br /> Participate in the Public Works “Standby Duty” and “Call Back” programs for after-hours and <br />weekend maintenance, repairs, and emergencies. <br /> <br /> <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Works with other City employees in a cooperative manner to maintain a team effort and also can <br />work effectively alone. <br />Performs related duties as apparent or delegated to ensure the successful operation of the Public <br />Works Department. <br />Maintains ability and knowledge to assist in training of other employees. <br />Services on various employee or other committees as assigned. <br />Drafts Reports on a daily basis. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience: <br /> High School diplomaGraduation from a high school or GED equivalent. <br /> See “Special Requirements” for additional qualifications regarding licensures. <br />** see Collective Bargaining Unit Labor Agreementcontract for job classification system and <br />minimum advancement qualifications. <br />
