Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) Position Description <br />Page 1/3 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) <br />Department: Public Works – Operation and Maintenance Division <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works <br />Status: Non-Exempt (Public Works Collective Bargaining Unit) <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />Under the guidance and supervision of the Public Work Supervisor, this position is responsible for <br />operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the infrastructure and equipment associated with <br />the municipal wastewater collection system, including gravity sewer pipes, manholes, lift stations, <br />and forcemains. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />This position is supervised by and works under the general guidance and direction of the Public <br />Works Supervisor. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />No direct supervision is exercised by this position. May oversee the work of full-time and seasonal <br />maintenance workers on occasion when assigned by the Public Works Supervisor. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Clean and inspect sanitary sewer pipes, manholes, forcemains, lift stations, pumps, meters, <br />and other wastewater collection system components. <br /> Operate and maintain sewer televising and maintenance equipment, including jetting/vactor <br />truck, pole camera, mainline sewer camera, computer, and other related equipment. <br /> Troubleshoot and repair wastewater collection system infrastructure, equipment, and tools to <br />ensure proper and long-lasting performance. <br /> Assist with other O&M Division activities as assigned by the Public Works Supervisor, including <br />snow and ice removal, storm debris clean-up, facility and grounds maintenance, vehicle and <br />equipment maintenance, and water breaks repairs. <br /> Assesses in-field conditions and problems to determine workable solutions and methods for <br />resolving them with limited supervision. <br /> Make recommendations to the Public Works Supervisor on operating matters of the department <br />including personnel, equipment, and work procedures that will improve the functioning of the <br />Public Works Department to provide better maintenance and service. <br /> Follow departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in compliance with <br />applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regulations. Also recognizes <br />potential hazards in the work environment and notifies Public Works Supervisor for corrective <br />action. <br /> Purchase operational supplies with responsibility and in accordance with City Purchasing <br />Policy. <br /> Maintain knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals used in departmental <br />programs.
