Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary Sewer) Position Description <br />Page 2/3 <br /> Perform manual labor including, but not limited to, lifting, painting, tree trimming, planning, and <br />removal, the use of hand tools, compacting materials with hand of mechanical equipment. <br /> Keep accurate records of time sheets, job activity sheets, televising records, fuel log sheets, <br />vehicle and equipment maintenance reports, water test, asbuilts, and other related or required <br />data. <br /> Respond to citizens requests and complaints in a manner consistent with the City policies and <br />regulations and promotes and maintains a favorable image of the City through positive <br />community relations. <br /> Follow departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in compliance with <br />applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regulations. <br /> Participate in the Public Works “Standby Duty” and “Call Back” programs for after-hours and <br />weekend maintenance, repairs, and emergencies. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> High School diploma or GED equivalent. <br /> See “Special Requirements” for additional qualifications regarding licensures. <br />** see Collective Bargaining Unit Labor Agreement for job classification system and minimum <br />advancement qualifications. <br /> <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in maintenance andminor <br />repairs. <br /> Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment used. <br /> Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. <br /> Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous <br />physical labor under adverse conditions. <br /> Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. <br /> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other <br />departments and the public. <br /> Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> Possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license and CDL Class B license with air brake and <br />tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. <br /> Possess a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate. <br /> Possess a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate. <br /> <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br /> Common industry motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility <br />truck, skid steer, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, <br />common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, <br />ditch witch, and computer. <br /> Specialized equipment including jetting/vactor truck and underground utility televising <br />equipment and accessories. <br />
