APPROVAL OF MINUTES 4 <br /> 5 <br />None. 6 <br /> 7 <br />11. REPORTS 8 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Mueller reported Wednesday through Saturday the Mounds View Community 11 <br />Theater would be presenting Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat at the Irondale 12 <br />High School Auditorium. She highly recommended the production. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Mueller encouraged all to take part in National Night Out on August 2nd. On 15 <br />August 18th, a Concert in the Park was scheduled. This was a free event, open to the public. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Mueller stated Festival in the Park was scheduled for August 20th. She noted 18 <br />the parade would be held at 10:00 a.m. this year and the route remains the same. She stated 19 <br />Jonah and the Whales would provide entertainment for the event with fireworks provided by 20 <br />MedTronic. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Flaherty reviewed an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding Emerald Ash Borer 23 <br />being present in Shoreview. He indicated the City had a plan in place to mitigate concerns if the 24 <br />diseases spread. 25 <br /> 26 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 27 <br /> 28 <br />1. Mounds View Police Department Quarterly Report 29 <br /> 30 <br />Police Chief Kinney reviewed his second quarter report with the Council. He highlighted several 31 <br />areas in detail stating calls for service have increased in 2011 over 2010. In addition, traffic 32 <br />citations issued had risen, along with medical calls. He noted the DARE Officer graduated over 33 <br />500 Fifth Graders at Pinewood School. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked the Department for completing the DARE program with the schools. He 36 <br />felt this was an extremely valuable program and created a great relationship between these school 37 <br />aged children and the Police Department. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Police Chief Kinney explained all tobacco and alcohol compliance checks in the past quarter 40 <br />were completely successfully. He reviewed the Safe and Sober Program information with the 41 <br />Council. The Department would like to encourage residents to wear their seatbelts. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Police Chief Kinney stated Officer Nitter was acknowledged by a local girl scout troop as a hero 44 <br />as he provides security and safety to the children attending school. He stated Officer Andy Olson 45
