PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAM <br /> MIS Coordination Program Function and Service Standards <br /> The MIS program is responsible for information systems such as computer hardware and software <br /> applications, efficient processing of information, and a coordinated records retention program that is <br /> accurate and proficient. <br /> PROGRAM OBJECTIVES <br /> One of the continuous priorities of the City Council is to aid in the City's commitment to stay up-to- <br /> • <br /> date with new computer and communications technology. The City's ability to quickly, accurately and <br /> effectively process, record and communicate information, as well as provide timely, safe and efficient <br /> service in daily municipal operations, is vital to the livelihood of all residents of Mounds View. <br /> BUDGET IMPACTS <br /> Personnel: <br /> Personnel in this program consist of the following: <br /> • Computer Consultant (Occasionally) <br /> • Assistant to the City Administrator/Deputy Clerk <br /> General Expenditures: <br /> Salary expenditures will decrease in 1997 due to the reorganization of the Administration Department. <br /> It is also anticipated that consultant costs will decrease due to in-house training. <br /> City staff continues to take advantage of the benefits of the computer network by utilizing the system <br /> on a daily basis to meet the City's growing communication and informational needs, but there are <br /> numerous features that are not being utilized that would greatly reduce the amount of time currently <br /> used to process and share information.
