7
January 15, 1997
Pam Sheldon
Community Development Director
City of Mounds View
2401 Highway 10
Mounds View, MN 55112
Ms. Sheldon:
We are writing to express our concern about the proposed plan to build a 16-screen movie theatre
on land bordering Hwy. 10, Cty. Rd. H2, and Long Lake Road.
After residing in a very busy section of Minneapolis for 17 years we made the decision 3 1/2 years
ago to move to Mounds View because we wanted our two daughters to live in an area that had both
good schools and safe, uncrowded neighborhoods. We believed we made the right decision.
However, the thought of the City of Mounds View approving this plan makes us wonder if we
really did make the correct choice. The congestion, noise, traffic, and late night activity that this
development would add to an area so close to residences would surely change a quiet, pleasant area •
of our community into a very busy, unpleasant place to live. The area would become as congested
as the region surrounding the Northtown shopping mall. The flow of traffic on Hwy. 10 is
already at its maximum level—we can't imagine adding to it!!
We are against this development plan and we strongly recommend denying any zone changes to
develop this land for this purpose. Does every piece of land need a building? Shouldn't there be
open spaces to view? We purchased a home in Mounds View believing we were going to be living
in a residential area. We don't want commercial businesses taking over!
Sincerely,
2.t-E;/1/4.W YinCIOACI6
Pat &Gregg Anderson
2612 Ridge Lane
Mounds View
