• IN TER
MEMO
OF F ICE
To: File: 471-97 O'Neil Property
From: Pamela Sheldon, Community Development Director
Subject: Conversation with Ed Donatelle
Date: March 14, 1997
On Thursday, March 13, 1997, I had a telephone conversation with Ed Donatelle regarding the
proposed 16-screen movie theater and office development on the O'Neil property. Mr. Donatelle
wanted to state his support for the project. He felt that the project would bring people into the
community, and other businesses in Mounds View would benefit by getting more visibility and
possibly customers. He felt that Mounds View is somewhat of an island right now, in terms of
attracting customers. People do not have a reason to come to Mounds View. Businesses have to
spend a lot of money on advertising. The theaters would create a draw and ripple effects.
• In particular, the project would help his restaurant because it may be possible to share parking,
which he very much needs. He does not have a problem with more restaurants being developed
(one of the possible uses of the out parcels on the O'Neil property.) He believes it will create
more activity and interest in coming to Mounds View.
Mr. Donatelle lives in the neighborhood behind the Donut Connection. He did not think the
theaters would have a detrimental impact on the neighborhood. They would not be like a bar;
they would not be serving alcohol.
N:\DATA\USERS\PAMS\SHARE\DEVCASES\471-97\DONATELL.MEM
•
