Jim Erickson and Pamela Sheldon
May 20, 1997 •
Page No. 3
Driveway D
We appreciate that Biko Associates provided additional information relative to traffic volumes
anticipated at Driveway D. The new volumes look significantly different from those in the original
study and appear consistent with volumes in the development. We are in agreement that the average
storage length for northbound traffic in the peak hour will be 225 feet which is further than the
distance between the traffic signal on Highway 10 and Driveway D. Southbound motorists will not
create a stacking problem but will be waiting for an opening in traffic. The alternative to use
Driveway E is possible and will probably be used by some motorists. This however puts traffic
through the conflict area near the drive through windows which we earlier addressed. As long as
there is an opportunity for southbound traffic to bypass waiting southbound left turning traffic, there
should not be a negative impact on traffic flow on southbound Silver Lake Road. Ramsey County
should review this.
Summary
We remain concerned about some of the on-site conflicts previously mentioned in either this memo
or the May 9 memo. Hopefully the comments will be used by the developer and his staff as the
project proceeds. Should there be any questions, please feel free to call us.
•
sah .
F:\PROJECTS\MOU ND\960I\M EMOS\ER ICKSON.52O
•
