Item No. I/tJ
Staff Report No. e,1 7 -
Meeting Date: June 23. 1997
IP Type of Business: CB
WK: Work Session;PH:Public Hearing;
CA:Consent Agenda;CB:City Business
City of Mounds View
Staff Report
To: Mayor/ Council Members
From: Cathy Bennett, Director of Economic Development
Item Title/Subject: Resolution Approving Construction Bids for Children's
Home Society Space in the Community Center
Date of Report: June 18, 1997
The following resolution is to officially approve the bids for the first Phase of the
Community Center which includes the tenant improvements for the Children's
Home Society.
The bids were advertised in the Pioneer Press, Bulletin and Trade Journals for three
• components; general construction, electrical and mechanical. Flannery Construction
collected the sealed bids and opened them in the presence of myself and Chuck.
The lowest bid for general construction and electrical were verified by Flannery
Construction to ensure that they were going to be able to meet the deadline of
August 12, 1997 per the agreement with the Children's Home Society. Upon
discussion with the lowest bidder on the mechanical contract, Fredrickson Heating, it
was apparent that a portion of the project was not included as per the plans and
specification. Therefore, we are recommending the award of the next lowest bidder
Fisher Bjork Sheetmetal. Even though Fredrickson Heating could revise their bid as
the lowest, we have been advised by Attorney Bob Long that it is not legal to accept
revised bids.
By accepting these bids, the phase I project is still under the estimated budget of
$721,905.
Director s" conomic Development
•
