WHERE AS, Policing costs to suburban cities are significantly <br /> higher for time spent in court testimony by arresting officers at <br /> the downtown Ramsey County Courthouse than the costs for booking <br /> procedures; and <br /> WHERE AS, The recent addition of the Public Works/Maintenance <br /> complex as a jail site option did not invite input from suburban <br /> elected officials or citizens during site selection processes; <br /> and <br /> • <br /> WHERE AS, The City Council of Shoreview has gone on record as ' <br /> opposed to the Ramsey County Public Works/Maintenance complex <br /> located at the intersection of I-694 and Rice Street as a site <br /> for the proposed county jail; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, The Mounds View City Council <br /> respectfully informs the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners of <br /> our support to the City of Shoreview in opposition to conversion <br /> of the Ramsey County Public Works/Maintenance site located at the <br /> intersection of I-694 and Rice Street for expanded county jail <br /> facilities; <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, The Mounds View City Council supports <br /> the Ramsey County Board in building cost effective jail <br /> facilities efficiently proximate to the Ramsey County Courthouse <br /> and likewise encourages accomplishment of recommendations from <br /> the 1991 Ramsey County Suburban Courts Study Commission for one <br /> centrally located suburban court facility in the area of Rice St. <br /> and I-694 on a site that has potential for future expansion to • <br /> accommodate a suburban county service center efficiently <br /> proximate to suburban Ramsey County municipalities. <br /> Adopted this 23rd day of June, 1997 <br /> Roger Koopmeiners, Acting Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Charles S.
