- . INTER
MEMO
OF F ICE
To: Chuck Whiting, City Clerk-Administrator
From: Pamela Sheldon, Community Development Director
Subject: Resignation from Mounds View
Date: June 16; 1997
CONFIDENTIAL
With this memo, I am submitting my resignation from the City of Mounds View, effective July 29,
1997 or whatever day during the week of July 28 that will qualify me for one year of service
under PERA.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the City of Mounds View. It has enabled me to work on
several very interesting and challenging projects including the 35W Corridor Coalition, the O'Neil
• Property and D.W. Jones PUDs, the Saturn Dealership expansion and the New Apostolic Church.
It has given me the opportunity to participate in the University of Minnesota Design Course and
to begin implementing the steps needed to create a Mounds View City Center and to build the
ring road. I have
been impressed with their dedication and commitment. It has been a pleasure to work with them,
and I appreciate all their help and guidance over the last year.
I have also enjoyed being a part of your administration and of the City's management team. I
appreciate the opportunity you gave me to work here, and the many conversations we have had
about organizational issues. I wish that I could continue to be a part of the development of the
organization. I have decided, however, for personal reasons, to return to Colorado.
I am a finalist for the position of Planning Manager with the City of Westminister, CO and will be
going to my final interview on Tuesday, June 24. Regardless of the outcome of the interview, I
have made arrangements to move back to Colorado and have applied for several other positions.
I felt it was important to notify you as soon as possible so you can begin the hiring process. I
would strongly recommend that you hire a consultant in the interim to supervise the department
and to assure that the critical projects now in process do not flounder. These would include the
O'Neil and D.W. Jones properties, the Highway 10 design theme and the ring road. I would
