Consideration of Approval for the Purchase of Cable TV Equipment to Upgrade the System. 16 17 Mary Saarion,Director of Parks and Recreation,explained that the Cable Committee has discussed this item 18 over a number of meetings and put together a list of equipment to upgrade and improve the cable TV 19 production and technical audio system. More than sufficient funds are available in the Cable fund to pay for 20 these improvements. • 21 22 Patrick Toth,Cable TV Producer and Technician provided the Council with a list of equipment for use in 23 televising the Council work sessions and upgrade the present system. He noted that he would like to add to 24 the list Zoom and Focus Controls for the Studio Camera and a View Finder for a cost of$1,700.00. The total 25 cost for the equipment will range between$6,500 and$6,800.00. 26 27 Council member Stigney stated he believes that Stage 1 Supply could provide the Panasonic 456 S-VHS 28 Camcorder for a lesser cost. Mr.Toth stated he would check on the price,and if so,he would purchase it 29 through them. 30 31 MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Stigney to Amend the 1997 Budget by transferring$8,000 from the Cable 32 Franchise Fee Account to the proper account to purchase equipment to purchase communication equipment in 33 the city. 34 35 VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried 36 37 H. Consideration of Approval for the Purchase of Playground Equipment to Upgrade Old Equipment 38 for Compliance to Safety Standards and the Addition of Replacement Equipment for Groveland Park 39 as Per the Equipment Replacement Plan and as Budgeted for 1997 Park Improvement. 40 41 Ms. Saarion explained that Groveland Park playground equipment is slated for replacement this summer,as 42 per the Park Facility Replacement Plan and 1997 budget. The Parks&Recreation Commissioners have 43 discussed ways to make the$20,000 go as far as possible,including salvaging some of the existing playground 44 equipment and upgrading it to comply with safety standards and match the new equipment. Additionally some 45 of the equipment will be removed and replaced. Ms.Saarion noted that MN Playground,Inc.provided a 46 proposal in the amount of$20,000,and the Park&Recreation Commission and staff recommend that the • 47 Council approve this proposal. 48
