Whiting, City Administrator Item Title/Subject: Authorization to Hire SRF Consulting to provide professional planning services Date of Report: July 9, 1997 Summary: Staff is requesting approval of a contract with SRF Consulting to provide professional planning services to maintain momentum on several major projects during the recruitment period for a new Community Development Director. Background: There are several major planning projects underway in the City of Mounds View at this time. These include developments on the O'Neil property and the D.W. Jones property, the Silver Lake Commons project, implementation of the Ring Road concept developed by the University of • Minnesota, the Highway 10 design theme and initiating the update to the Comprehensive Plan. Most of these projects involve the Highway 10 Corridor in some way, and they represent significant opportunities for development of the City's economic base and for shaping the future direction of Mounds View. With the resignation of Pam Sheldon, our Community Development Director, I feel it is necessary to retain a professional consulting firm to provide planning services during the interim in order to maintain momentum on these projects. At your worksession on July 7, we discussed hiring Patrick Peters of SRF Consulting to provide these services, and it was the City Council's direction to bring forward the proposal from SRF Consulting for approval. Attached you will find this proposal. Recommendation: Authorize the City Administrator to sign the attached contract with SRF Consulting. (LL IC Witi I t�-S Charles S.
