INFORMATION <br /> Safety Committee Meeting Minutes • <br /> August 25, 1997 ONLY <br /> Chair Person: Lynnette Morgan <br /> Secretary: John Hammerschmidt <br /> Members Present: Dave Brick, John Hammerschmidt, Rick'arson, Lynnette Morgan, Mary <br /> Saarion, Tracy Sanchez <br /> Absent: Larry Decheine, Tim Pittman <br /> Meeting Dates: Meetings will be held on the third Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m., <br /> one hour in length. At least four members need to be present to hold a <br /> meeting. Committee members are encouraged not to miss meeting times, <br /> but if a conflict does arise they should notify the Chair person. <br /> Policy information previously developed by the Safety Committee was distributed to committee <br /> members. The Safety Committee Bylaws were revised to conform with the re-established • <br /> committee. The goal of this committee is to be in compliance with OSHA, State and Federal <br /> guidelines for safety. <br /> The group decided to review the current safety manual and give reports on their own departments <br /> compliance with this manual. As part of the completion of the Policy Handbook the safety <br /> committee will be reviewing all safety policies including the Safety Manual, AWAIR, Bloodborne • <br /> pathogens, Right to Know, Hearing Conservation Program and Emergency Plans and Fire <br /> Prevention. <br /> Lynnette Morgan is going to contact Berkley Risk to see if someone could attend the next <br /> meeting to assist the committee in the development of their goals and functions. <br /> Dave Brick is in the process of rewriting the City's Emergency Safety Plan. Mary Saarion <br /> questioned whether this safety plan applies to internal procedures for recreational activities in <br /> determining weather related situations. This City's Emergency Safety Plan applies to City wide <br /> crisis situations (e.g.Williams Pipeline explosion). <br /> All city employees are invited to share their concerns in person or writing to any committee <br /> members about safety issues. <br /> Mary Saarion brought up the idea of making a safety video for all new employee to help with <br /> seasonal safety orientation. The committee also discussed creating a checklist for supervisors to <br /> complete during orientation and creating monthly training topics for City wide safety awareness. <br /> A few training topics included personal safety, fire prevention, and CPR. <br /> Next meeting scheduled for Monday, September 15 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> • <br />
