INFORMATION <br /> ONLY <br /> • Safety Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> September 15, 1997 <br /> Members Present: Lynnette Morgan, Mary Saarion, Tracy Sanchez and Larry Decheine <br /> Absent: Dave Brick, John Hammerschmidt, Rick Jarson, and Tim Pittman <br /> Next Meeting: October 20, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Doug Holm, Senior Loss Control Consultant for LMCIT, gave the committee an overview of the <br /> purpose of safety committees which is to prevent and reduce potential losses. He has worked <br /> with the Mounds View on several safety and insurance related issues over the past years. The <br /> committee will include the statement of purpose as part of the Safety Committee Functions. <br /> Doug described the purpose and importance of the City developing an A.W.A.I.R(A workplace <br /> accident and injury reduction program). Doug also informed members of the three E's <br /> (Education, Engineering and Enforcement) to safety. The committee will be incorporating the <br /> existing safety manual with an A.W.A.I.R policy. <br /> As part of the LMC services, a video library is available to all members. The videos may be <br /> used as a parallel to presenting safety related information. Mary expressed the difficulty in <br /> coordinating safety training with seasonals. <br /> Larry expressed communication of safetyhas been lacking.g. Crty employees need to know there <br /> is an established safety program supported by staff and management . Safety communication <br /> and awareness will be looked at by the committee. Everyone is encouraged to report unsafe <br /> conditions and practices. Tracy questioned whether all employees know the right procedures to <br /> report an accident. This issue will be discussed at a department head meeting, reminding <br /> supervisors and department heads to communicate the correct procedures on reporting an injury. <br /> The committee will be reviewing sample policies from other cities pertaining to Accident <br /> Investigation programs. In addition to developing an Accident Investigation program, the <br /> committee will also be updating other safety rules and policies. <br /> • <br /> • <br />
