CONSENT AGENDA: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Stigney to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 VOTE: 3 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Mr.Bob Wharton of the Lion's Club was present to answer any questions that the Council may have had in <br /> 18 regard to their request in Item 4 of the Consent Agenda. He provided a brief summary of some of the <br /> 19 charitable donations that the Lion's Club has made in the past,noting that approximately 80%of the money <br /> 20 goes back into the City of Mounds View to families in need or to the school system,and City Hall. • <br /> 21 He provided the Council with a list of the charitable donations over the past two years and the amount <br /> 22 expended. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 E. RESIDENTS REOUESTS AND COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR: <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Acting Mayor Koopmeiners explained that this is the time for residents to address the council with concerns on <br /> 27 items that are not on the Agenda. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 There were no questions or comments from the floor. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 F. COUNCIL BUSINESS: <br /> 32 <br /> 33 1. Ordinance No.605,An Ordinance Implementing a Franchise Fee on Electric and Natural Gas <br /> 34 Utility Companies for the Operation of the Utility within the City of Mounds View. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Acting Mayor Koopmeiners opened the Public Hearing at 7:09 p.m. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Mr. Whiting explained that passage of this ordinance would continue the franchise fee into 1998 at a decreased <br /> 39 rate of 2.5%. The past five years,the franchise fee has been at 3%. The franchise fee would sunset on <br /> 40 December 31, 1998. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 With no further questions,the Public Hearing was closed at 7:11 p.m. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Stigney to approve the adoption of Ordinance No.605,An Ordinance <br /> 45 Implementing a Franchise Fee on Electric and Natural Gas Utility Companies for the Operation of the Utility <br /> 46 within the City of Mounds View,and to waive the reading. <br /> • <br /> 47 <br /> 48 ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />
