POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> POSITION TITLE: Director of Economic Development <br /> DEPARTMENT: Administration <br /> ACCOUNTABLE: City Administrator <br /> GENERAL PURPOSE <br /> Direct and manage the economic development and redevelopment activities and the coordination of <br /> those activities with quasi-public groups in the community. Acts in the capacity of the Economic <br /> Development Authority's Executive Director in managing the authorities legal and procedural affairs <br /> and use of tax increment funds. <br /> Performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical and professional work in the <br /> preparation and implementation of economic development and redevelopment plans, programs and <br /> services . <br /> Assist City Administrator in the management and direction of overall city policies and acts in the <br /> capacity of the Administrator when needed. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br /> Works under the general supervision of the City Administrator. <br /> SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br /> Administrative Staff. <br /> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Direct the development and ongoing management of the Economic Development Authority and <br /> Economic Development Commission. <br /> Serve as the EDA Executive Director to oversee the general supervision of EDA business affairs, <br /> serve as Assistant Treasurer and sign all official EDA resolutions and purchase documents. <br /> Provide technical and professional advice and support by acting as staff liaison to community <br /> development organizations including Economic Development Commission, local development <br /> corporations, Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority. Also, develop <br /> strategies for working with appropriate commissions and task forces as needed. <br /> Develop and maintain Business Retention Program via regular contact with business owners, <br /> property owners, and economic development related community organizations. <br />
