STAFF REPORT <br /> PAGE TWO <br /> JULY 6, 1994 <br /> In the context of a discussion regarding enforcement of traffic <br /> laws, it may be beneficial to address the current and future role <br /> of the Police Department in such areas as: <br /> * Code Enforcement <br /> * Coordination of activities with other Departments <br /> * New programs, services, activities <br /> * Communication - is the Council receiving enough information from <br /> the Department, too much, too litlle, what information is <br /> desired? <br /> Below are suggested questions Council may wish to consider prior to <br /> the Work Session. <br /> * What are the general and specific expectations of the Council <br /> for the Department? <br /> * What does the Council feel are the areas where the Department <br /> is performing at or above expectations? <br /> * What current activities/programs/services does the Council <br /> want continued, expanded, or decreased, if any? <br /> * What new programs/activities/programs would the Council like <br /> to see initiated by the Department? <br /> * What specific accomplishments does the Council wish to see <br /> occur in the short term (1994/95) and long term (end of the <br /> decade) ? <br /> * In what areas does the Council wish to see improvement? <br /> * Is there a need for additional community input (i. e. , a <br /> survey) to determine community expectations? Other Departments <br /> had the benefit of FOCUS 2000 input in shaping their goals <br /> and objectives. <br />
