"THIS IS IT"
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY
WEEK OF JULY 5TH, 1994
PARKS:
* The sprinkling system at Silver View Park has been repaired.
A concrete floor has been poured in the manhole which houses
the electrical panel and the pumps. A sump pump was
installed last summer and the final touches have been
completed on this system. It looks like the grass is
responding to the water.
* Mowing, brush removal at Silver View Park and chemical week
control has been going on all week.
* Steve and Jeff have been tying down the backstops at various
park softball/baseball fields.
* There is a shortage of woodchips around town - we are
waiting for a delivery so that we can pursue the
woodchipping of the path near the Scotland Green area and
the disc golf areas at Silver View Park.
RECREATION:
* Sixty six children signed up for the trip to Sports Spree on
Friday, July 8 . We changed the trip from Cedar Lake Farm to
Sports Spree because of the weather predictions for Friday.
The children all love Sports Spree (our foul weather
alternate trip) .
* The second session of swimming has commenced. Last week the
pool was closed for one day due to chemical imbalance. This
makes for a hectic day in the office trying to notify
everyone of the cancellation.
* Mary was off last week on a trip to Wisconsin Dells, Sharie
is off a few days this week spending "quality time" with son
#2, Chad, who is in the Midwest while on tour of the nation
with the Madison Scouts, a prestigious drum & bugle corps.
* Festival plans are set. A big centerfold publicity page was
in the New Brighton Bulletin this week. It' s a great piece!
* Be sure to reserve your tickets for "Oliver" .
* Lakeside Park had another bout of Swimmer' s Itch - it is the
worst year that I can remember for this problem. Other
lakes are having problems too, large lakes that you won't
