think would have the problem ie. Lake Bemidji. It is
unfortunate since the summer has been so hot and everyone is
anxious to be swimming. Lakeside is such a nice beach! This
is the 3-4 time that the beach is being treated this year
alone. Each treatment is approximately $200 - we budget for
2 treatments each year. As you can tell, we are over budget
already in the number of treatments and the summer is only
1/2 through.
FORESTRY:
* Rick has indicated that it is a very bad year in the City of
Mounds View for Dutch Elm disease. He is unsure of the
reason why it is so prevalent this summer.
* Rick has continued to work on the Long Lake Road tree
replacement project funded with State Aid monies.
* The trees being planted as part of the Small Business Grant
have been planted at Greenfield, Lambert, Silver View and
City Hall. As we receive the final billing we will
reconcile the City's responsibilities for the grant match
and then with the remaining monies will purchase trees to
plant at Oakwood Park near the bleacher areas and City Hall
ballfield bleacher areas.
* At this time last week their was a concern regarding the
dryness of the turf, trees and bushes. However, weekend
rains have provided relief. Hopefully intermittent rains
will continue to provide the water needed.
