f
THIS IS
IT . . . .
For the Week of July 4-July 8,1994
ADMINISTRATIQN
* Included herein are copies of all the Citizen Concern Logs that Joyce Pruitt has
completed since she began her duties as the Planning Associate in charge of code
enforcement. I have included all forms so that each one of you have an idea of the
type of complaints she has received, code violations she is observing and pursuing.
Hereafter, I will continue to include the Concern sheets in the black binder entitled,
Citizen Concern Log, which is stored on the file cabinet in Michele's office area. I
have also copied, for your information, Joyce's memo to Councilmember Blanchard
regarding the follow-up to their Friday city-wide review.
* On Wednesday, Don Brager and I met with a representative of a managed care
organization to discuss possible participation by the City in a Worker's
Compensation program. Several cities in the Metro area have entered into contracts
with managed care providers as a way of reducing their Worker's Compensation
costs.
The process is one in which a worker injured on the job is processed through the
managed care facility rather than their own personal physician. The goal is to assist
the worker to return to full capacity as soon as possible. Utilizing a managed care
facility would result in a 5% reduction in the City's Worker's Comp. insurance
through the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. Cost for the service are
activated at the time of the employee injury and are billed through our risk
management carrier. Since the City's Worker's Comp. experience factor is so low,
the savings in the insurance premium may more than offset any possible fees
resulting from a W.C. claim.
