Don and I will continue to explore p this potential cost saving and update you as soon
as we have met with other managed care service providers.
* The owners of the fourplex on Edgewood were served the Order for Abatement on
June 30th. They have until July 20th to complete the abatement orders or the City
will proceed in Ramsey County Court to secure authority to complete the work (by
contract) and charge the costs against the property taxes. To my knowledge, the
owner has not commenced the repairs. Two of the three families remain in the
fourplex and do not plan to relocate.
* I have included herein a copy of the Supreme Court ruling on the Agunbiade case.
* Just a quick note regarding summer vacations: many staff members will be taking
much deserved) summer vacations beginning now. There will be times, in the next
few months, when staffing levels are very low and remaining staff are trying to do
their best to complete their work and cover the duties of the temporary vacant
position. We ask for your understanding, patience and support.
Samantha
Economic Development
Attraction:
• With a tip from Jerry Johnson of the Police Department, I have contacted a
printing company located in Bloomingtone looking to move their operation.
spoke with the president of the company and they are looking to purchase a
15,000-20,000 s.f. building. Unfortunately, Mounds View only has lease
options in Mounds View Business Park and raw land . The president did
mention that if he did not find an existing building that he would consider a
build-to-suit. I will be putting a package of information together outlining the
benefits of Mounds View and the properties that would be meet his criteria for
lease and to build. Thank you Jerry for the information!
• A general letter will be sent to Buffets, Inc. regarding opening a store in Mounds
View. I read an article in Corporate Report that the soup and salad chain will be
opening 50 new stores this year. This is a long shot but still worth pursuing,
especially since I love soup and salad!
Retention:
• Last week I met with Dale Jones the owner of commercially zoned land along
highway 10 near TJB Homes and Winniecki Insurance. He is very interested in
working with the City to attract a buyer for his property. Mr. Jones has set a
meeting with George Winniecki to discuss the option of marketing the properties
