QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY <br /> APRIL, MAY, JUNE, 1994 <br /> PARKS: <br /> * Preparation of athletic fields, (re-grading those that <br /> require leveling) , replacing home plates, base pegs, <br /> pitching rubbers, fencing binding, safety checks, placement <br /> of trash cans, and repairing spectator bleachers and players <br /> benches was completed in April, with adult athletic teams <br /> beginning play the last week of April. <br /> * Preparation of mowers for Spring mowing - mowing began in <br /> April. The Spring mowing was performed by the 2 regular <br /> park maintenance crew members which takes a majority of <br /> their time. Regular maintenance also included trash <br /> removal, park inspections, playground inspections and <br /> equipment maintenance and repair. <br /> * The crew repaired the keystone retaining wall at Lakeside <br /> Park using the backhoe and front end loader to install <br /> deadheads. <br /> * Brad Pellegrino began working 1/2 days on field maintenance <br /> grooming fields for adult softball and later for Athletic <br /> Association games and finally adding the in-house rec <br /> program games, averaging 13 fields per day grooming. <br /> * PARK PROJECTS: Once seasonals came on board they took over <br /> the mowing and trash duties so that Steve and Jeff could <br /> begin improvement projects in June. Projects included the <br /> installation of basketball goals at Hillview and Random <br /> Parks, installation of a picnic table at Lambert. Also, the <br /> irrigation system was repaired at Silver View and drinking <br /> fountains adjusted for summer playgrounds. <br /> Contracted the installation of the safety netting at <br /> Greenfield Park baseball field and the players bench fencing <br /> at Oakwood Park. <br /> * Park buildings were prepared for summer playground <br /> activities beginning mid June. <br /> * Bill Urbanski began weed control duties once he came on <br /> board and also began park tree trimming assistance. <br /> * During the month of July such projects as trail <br /> maintenance, play equipment repair and graffiti <br /> removal, rough cut mowing of Silver View and Greenfield <br /> Park trails and Woodcrest Park ditch have been <br />
