leader orientation and training was conducted three <br /> days in June. <br /> * Work with several committees including the Garden Committee <br /> which planned and planted the flower beds at City Hall, the <br /> Festival Committee which also included a parade in this <br /> year's celebrations, and the MVCT which is producing <br /> "Oliver". All these committees require staff liaison <br /> support and assistance. <br /> * The Senior's Day in the park (June 21) was a new program <br /> which was co-sponsored by donation through Western Bank <br /> and the Lion's Club. Over 120 senior citizens attended <br /> the daylong event. <br /> FORESTRY: <br /> * Tree trimming and removal specifications were prepared and <br /> bid with award to Blumehl and Precision Tree Services. <br /> * Rick worked with Jim Hess and tree contractors for the <br /> replacement of trees along the Long Lake Road project. This <br /> project will be a summer long activity. <br /> * The annual tree sale distribution was in April. <br /> * Also, Rick participated in many Arbor Day activities at the <br /> schools in May. <br /> * Trees purchased with the matching Small Business Grant were <br /> planted at Lambert, Greenfield, City Hall and Silver View <br /> Parks. <br /> * The forestry crew continues trimming trees at parks and <br /> public lands and street intersections as time allows. <br /> * Tree inspections have been conducted throughout the time, <br /> with an outbreak of Dutch Elm disease being detected this <br /> summer. <br /> GOLF COURSE: <br /> * Construction of the golf course began in April. <br /> * Meetings were attended with MWCC to coordinate the <br /> interceptor project in an effort to least impact the <br /> construction the golf course. <br /> * The golf course name was chosen - "The Bridges" . <br /> * Construction began on the Maintenance Building. <br /> * Golf Course Superintendent's position was opened with over <br /> 100 application being received and 10 persons interviewed. <br />
