Staff has just received conformation that 2
residents wish to proceed with connections to the Fridley Water System.
Mounds View does not supply water to residents north of Bronson Drive and
south of County Road I.
The City of Fridley has a lateral charge which in essence is a replacement
cost of the water main servicing the properties. This charge is $15.46 per
lineal frontage foot. Two of our residents that wish to hook up to
Fridley's supply-cannotafford this charge at this time. Bear in mind that
they must also pay a contractor for the installation of the service line.
The lateral charge for each property will be approximately $2,000. These
residents wish to have this fee put on an assessment. The residents are,
Thomas Jellings, 7581 Pleasantview Drive, and William Doty, 3049 Bronson
Drive.
The City of Fridley will not issue any permits for connections until this
fee is paid, or a statement from the City of Mounds View is received
stating that Mounds View will pay the fee, and assess it to the property
owners. This sitution is similar to the sanitary sewer connection that was
granted to Skyline Motel and for two other pending residents.
Staff recommends that Council authorize staff to execute this agreement
with all parties involved. These connections should be performed as soon
as possible, in that the road construction project is progressing very
swiftly. Funding for these connections could be paid for from the Water
Utility Repairs Account 700-4121-515, with a transfer from the Water
Contingency Account 700-4121-910 for that amount.
 1
Michael Ulrich, Public Wo ks/Director
