UNr <br />PPROVED <br />1 Mounds View City Council Page Nineteen <br />2 Regular Meeting July 25, 1994 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 D. Consideration of Resolution No. 4597 Deposing Runway and Control Tower Development at <br />7 Anoka County -Blaine Airport <br />8 <br />9 Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, stated that on July 13, former City Attorney and herself <br />1 o attended the Metropolitan Council's Transportation Committee's Public Hearing on the proposed <br />11 changes to the Aviation Chapter of the Metropolitan Development Guide. Orduno presented the <br />12 proposed changes for this airport. Orduno stated that the important concern was proposed <br />13 guidelines governing the development of long-range plans for the MAC's smaller airports, <br />14 including the Anoka County -Blaine Airport. Orduno further reported that the members of the <br />15 Transportation Committee were reminded of the stipulations fo the July, 1986 Ramsey County <br />16 Court Order which stated that MAC agreed to develop the AC/B Airport as a "minor use" airport <br />17 and to restrict the installation and use of any instrument landing system or microwave landing <br />18 system solely to the east/west Runway No. 826. <br />19 <br />20 Orduno reported that Resolution No. 4597, attached, Deposing Runway and Control Twoer <br />21 Development at Anoka County -Blaine Airport follows up the testimony presented by herself and <br />22 Dick Meyers at the hearing. This resolution, if approved, will be forwarded to the members of the <br />23 Transportation Committee as well as members of the Metropolitan Council, with a more expansive <br />24 letter of explanation to the City's Metropolitan Council representative, Mr. Patrick Leung. <br />25 <br />26 Discussion followed among the Council regarding the traffic patterns of the Anoka County -Blaine <br />27 Airport. <br />28 <br />29 Councilmember Trude asked if when the planes are coming down they are not <br />30 supposed to be south of County Road J. <br />31 <br />32 Mayor Linke stated that the planes are to stay north of 85th. <br />33 <br />34 MOTION/SECOND: Linke/Blanchard to Adopt Resolution No. 4597 Deposing <br />35 Runway and Control Tower Development At Anoka County -Blaine Airport <br />36 <br />37 VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />38 <br />39 Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, would the City of Circle Pines join with Mounds View opposing <br />40 this airport. Where is Blaine's position on this airport? <br />41 <br />42 Mayor Linke stated that Circle Pines would support Mounds View. <br />43 <br />44 Mayor Linke has not been able to talk to the City of Blaine as yet. <br />45 <br />46 <br />
