the airport that was of concern to Mounds View, he would like us to call him. His
number if 537-2058 or 726-5111.
Because of the misinformation that appears to be "out there" in regards to the airport,
I asked both Jack Eberlein and Mark Ryan, MAC'sairport planner, to attend the
October Work Session. They will update the Council on the plans proposed for the
airport and answer any questions regarding the potential impact of the tower and
proposed duel runways.
The Airports Advisory Committee has requested that the City of Mounds View select
two residents, who oppose any changes to the airport or who have had on -going
concerns about airport activities, to participate in the committee discussions. The
next meeting of the committee will be in October so the Council has plenty of time to
consider naming two individuals. This item will be placed on the September work
session agenda.
Yesterday, Mayor Linke, Councilmember Blanchard, Tim C., Cathy and myself had
lunch with Jim Casserly and Tim Nelson. The lunch had been scheduled so that the
name of the mysterious company could be released. It was not divulged. It appeared
that Everest was once again testing the water for the construction of the "spec."
building, Building "N". The reason they gave for not divulging the name was a signed
confidentiality agreement. However, I asked Cathy to call area cities to see if they
were being "courted" by a broker or developer who would not name the company,
but described it as a high tech manufacturing company. The answer was no in all
cities. The message conveyed to Everest by Mayor Linke and Councilmember
Blanchard was that TIF assistance will not be considered unless the next
development in the business park is owner -occupied or the a long term (10 years or
more) lease whereby the company is named.
Everest
Yesterday, after we returned, Paul Harrington received a call from Tim Nelson asking
when would be the earliest date plans for Building N could be brought to the
Planning Commission. Once again, so there will not be any misunderstanding as to
the Council's position, Cathy will draft a letter to Everest restating that position.
Well, the California girl is going home! Tommy, Todd and I leave tomorrow morning
at 7:30 a.m. (yes, a.m I cannot guarantee that I will be awake, lucid, coherent or
mobile, but I will be at the airport on time). Todd and I are traveling on one place,
Tommy on another. We each have layovers in different cities, so it will be interesting if
we actually end up in California together.
Council, thank you for allowing the extended vacation...I can't remember ever having
3 weeks at one time. We are all looking forward to seeing everyone (last year, we
only had 5 days and missed many relatives, and you know how upset relatives get if
you don't see each and every one of them.
