COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />In 1995 and beyond, it is anticipated that the Community Development Department will <br />continue to expand to meet the increasing needs of the City. The Department has in the <br />past and, will continue in the future, provide technical support to other City Departments <br />on projects and issues of City importance. <br />The Community Development Department, currently consisting of the <br />Community Development Coordinator, Engineering Aide, Building Inspector, Planning <br />Associate/Code Enforcement Officer, Housing Intern and Department Secretary, has as its <br />focus the adminishative application of land use and building regulations as adopted by the <br />Municipal Code. The main goal of the Department is to ensure that development within <br />the City is accomplished in accordance with the requirements spelled out in various <br />City Codes as well as providing for a conducive living and working habitat for Mounds <br />View's resident population. <br />Services provided by the Department include: <br />a. Planning and Zoning Review, zoning code enforcement, development review, planning <br />and zoning code review. <br />b. Building inspection, fire inspection, housing inspection and plan review. <br />c. Recycling coordination and reporting, educational activities to reduce solid <br />waste disposal problems and incentives for recycling. <br />d. Implementation of zoning and sign code regulations including issuance of <br />permits and enforcement of violations; also including enforcement of public <br />nuisance codes related to land use. <br />1995 - 1999 GOALS <br />1995 <br />Finalize updates to Zoning and Sign chapters of the Mounds View Municipal <br />Code. <br />Complete a comprehensive housing inventory and analysis including review of <br />possible housing rehabilitation programs and possible funding sources. <br />Enhance the rental housing inspection program by increasing the number of <br />inspections provided based on available funding resources. <br />30 <br />
