RECREATION:
1 . Fall recreation programs are in the homes - we have had many registrations by
telephone, mail and in-person. Additional advertisements via school flyers will
be provided once school is in session.
2. Fall Soccer Leagues have begun. The coaches met for the mandatory coaches
clinic last Thursday. We have a huge increase of teams this year - relative to
the World Cup Games this summer which sparks youth interest.
3. Adult Fall Softball has also seen an increase in numbers is in the second week
of games.
4. The Regional Sr. Center Task Force meets Wednesday evening (August 24) too
late for a report for this week's edition of "This Is It".
5. The Parks and Recreation Commission meets Thursday evening, (August 25).
6. I am a member of the Parks, Trails and Open Space team for Ramsey County
Strategic Planning - our first meeting was held last Tuesday. One resident from
Mounds View has volunteered to be on the committee - her name is Mrs.
Moriarity. Approximately 25 people are on the committee with a pretty even
split between St. Paul and Suburban representation.
GOLF COURSE:
1 . The Golf Course Task Force met at the golf course last Thursday for observation
of the work being done and also to decide on a logo for "The Bridges".
2. The review of the Maintenance Building was preformed last week with a small 3
item punch list resulting. The builders did a very good job in the construction of
the Maintenance Building.
FORESTRY:
1 . Rick took a much needed vacation last week. We have not had a chance to
catch up on activities, but I did see the crew out inspecting newly planted trees
last Thursday. Some trees have died and need to be replaced.
2. The 40 trees for the golf course will be planted soon (planted by the Tree Trust)
as reimbursement for the interceptor project which required removal of trees on
the golf course site. The new trees will be on much greater quality and
diversity - which is a benefit to the City.
