* Met with the Association for Nonsmokers-Minnesota. As a result, I will be
discussing with Council a tobacco ordinance. This ordinance would license
tobacco sellers and provide for periodical compliance checks. Hopefully, I'll
have something put together for the October work session.
* We have a new Reserve Officer, Jason Meron, (Mounds View resident). Jason
started with the Department on August 19, 1994.
Tim R.
PUBLIC WORKS
* The patching contract is in it's third week and the crews are working in the
north half of the city. They have removed the driveways at the treatment plants
and will repave them along with the walkways in the next couple of weeks.
Staff experienced some minor performance inadequacies, but they have been
addressed and corrected.
* The slurry sealing was completed on selected streets last week. Staff was very
impressed with the product and performance of the company. Minor disruptions
in traffic occurred, mainly in residential areas where residents were notified that
the street would be closed for the day. Staff has not received any comments on
this method thus far, so we plan to conduct a random survey of some of the
residents.
* Tracy is returning to work the 1st of September on a part time basis. Her hours
will be from 11 :30 to 3:00. As of October 1, 1994 she will be back to full time.
Needless to say, we're all looking forward to having her back. I'm sure she feels
the same!!!
* Pleasantview Drive construction is progressing at a steady pace. The weather
has cooperated appropriately. Curb and gutter should be poured yet this week.
Any questions on this project should be directed to Jim Hess, or myself.
* Subgrade excavation was performed on the police parking lot last week, and
electricity was roughed in for the lights and outlets. As of this writing it is not
known when the curb and gutter will be poured, hopefully yet this week. After
the concrete work in completed, staff will begin to reconstruct the ballfield to
the north of the lot.
