LINN:1:90WD
Mounds View City Council Page Eleven
Regular Meeting July 25, 1994

Joan Sundwall, 6942 Pleasantview Drive, stated she does want a park
there. Sundwall stated that she used to walk to Woodcrest Park and
stated that Woodcrest is a long walk. Ms. Sundwall did day care and took
walks to the park and had to go across Silver Lake Road and down Silver
Lake Road. The walk was dangerous. Ms. Sundwall stated that she is not
overly concerned with traffic and she does believe that a park is needed
in this area.

Doug Blood, 7034 Pleasantview Drive, stated that the west side of the
park is all wooded and it would be a good place for a predator to hide.
If Onan would let the land be landscaped it would probably be all right.
He visits Sunnyside which is three minutes away. Opposed to park.

Jerry Blanski, 2933 Woodale Drive, stated his concerns about the safety
of the children, way to remote of an area for young children. Blanski
sited an experience his child had regarding a predator. Woodale Drive is
a dead end street. Blanski stated Woodale is a quiet street and a park
would create more traffic. Blanski has a park 3/10 of a mile from his
house, another 6/10 of a mile from his house and this one would be 2/10
of a mile from his house. Received notice one week ago. Saarion gave a
very good presentation but has had time to prepare her presentation,
however, the residents only had one week to make notes and counteract
this action. Blanski stated that a park is not needed in this area.
Blanski stated that the City has not made an adequate way for residents
to get to Silver View Park from Woodale. Has the City tried to build up
Woodcrest Park? Mr. Blanski took pictures of Woodcrest Park and said it
is a worthless park and stated that there is a drain pipe full of water.

Mayor Linke stated that is a Ramsey County ditch problem.

Blanski stated that when the City can show him that the City can
develop a park different than Woodcrest Park he may consider a park.

Mayor Linke invited Blanski to look at the other
neighborhood parks.

Judy Herbst, used to live across from a park, which was the park in
Fridley. Herbst stated she moved away from Fridley to get away from
the park activity and that is why she moved to Woodale. Herbst stated
her opposition to having a park in that area because of the quietness
of the neighborhood and the City should improve the existing parks or
build a bridge over Silver Lake Road for access to the other parks.

Brian Amundson, 3048 Woodale Drive, stated he is active in the community
and is interested in holding down costs. Mr. Amundson stated that most
people in attendance are not interested in a park in this area.
Amundson stated that he is concerned for the safety of the children and
costs to the City and was frustrated with the process that was used.
Amundson heard that the grant is in the process and possibly already
obtained. Amundson spoke to the owner of the property and he has been
maintained this property and has asked the City for a permit to do clean
