Economic Development
MNDOT Changes Mounds View Sign
• I'm sure you are all aware of the "changing of the sign". We received great
coverage from Channel 4, St. Paul Pioneer Press, The Bulletin and The Focus.
Several people mentioned something to me at meetings that week. The word is
out! Also, I received a call from a resident who lives on Mounds View Drive.
She read the article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press and wondered if Mounds View
Drive should be spelled with two words rather than one as it states on the
street signs. After her call the signs were changed to two words.
Silver Lake Point Apartments
• I spoke with Jim O'Meara upon his return from vacation regarding MSP's
request to change the drop dead date. He found no problem with this and felt
comfortable that this is a request from the lender rather than a effort to delay
the project. I should see a
proof this week and the final product to be delivered the first week of
September.
Outreach
• I attended the League of Minnesota Cities Economic Development and Workers'
Compensation Policy Committee meetings all day on 8/9. There will be two
more Economic Development meetings and one more Workers' Compensation
meeting. The main focus for the Economic Development Committee is tax
increment financing, tax abatement and other financing assistant tools for the
