DRAFT <br /> POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> Class Title: Recycling Coordinator <br /> GENERAL PURPOSE <br /> Performs routine and complex and administrative, technical and <br /> professional work in coordinating the solid waste recycling <br /> programs of the City. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br /> Works under the general guidance and direction of Community <br /> Development Coordinator. <br /> SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br /> None. <br /> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Coordinates recycling programs and services of the City. <br /> Monitors recycling contracts with recyclers and solid waste <br /> handlers. <br /> Monitors municipal waste stream; develops, maintains and reports a <br /> variety of data relating to the waste stream and diversion to <br /> recycling programs. <br /> Assists with development of operating or capital budgets. <br /> Develops programs to promote and educate the public about recycling <br /> and other related resource conservation issues; prepares brochures, <br /> flyers, reports, flip charts, posters, calendars, articles, <br /> displays, exhibits and other educational and promotional items. <br /> Researches information, prepares presentations, and makes <br /> presentations to various educational, civic, business, government <br /> and service groups. <br /> Coordinates special recycling activities, such as workshops, <br /> demonstrations, christmas tree collection, or seasonal cleanups. <br /> Provides technical support to other departments and the general <br /> public on recycling and related solid waste issues. <br /> Develops, coordinates, promotes, and administers funding/grant <br /> programs to support specialized activities. <br /> Monitors Federal, state and local legislation dealing with <br /> recycling and related resource conservation issues. Represents City <br /> interests on committees and at public meetings and hearings. <br />
