REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: 12.
STAFF REPORT Report Number: 94-1 iWS
OUNCS
1111,
October 3, Report Date:
AGENDA SESSION DATE1994 9-28-9/i
DISPOSITION
Item Description:
Consideration of Filling Public Works Maintenance Worker Vacancy
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this report /l` ,-7 .1--' _
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
SUMMARY;
The recent departure of a Public Works Maintenance employee in the
Streets Division has created a vacancy to be filled in the Public Works
Department. As part of the Public Works bargaining agreement, the City
is required to post all openings internally for five days prior to the
public announcement of a Public Works job vacancy. As a result of this
posting, Tim Fredberg expressed interest and was subsequently
transferred from the water, sewer and surface water funds to the street
fund, meaning his primary responsibility will be in the area of streets,
This transfer does not change the fact that a vacancy exists in the
Public Works Department. The vacancy is now in the sewer, water and
surface water area.
If the Council so desires, staff could proceed with filling this vacancy
by placing an advertisement in this Sundays (10/9) paper along with
sending out notices to cities in the Metro area.
Attached for your review are a draft of the job description and job
announcement.
Staff is seeking Council direction in this matter.
l' OPA/4;
Tim Cruikshank
Asst. to the City Admin.
RECOMMENDATION;
