The boiler
was red tagged and must not be utilized until repairs are completed
and the unit is tested. An estimate for the repair of the old
boiler is approximately $900 including labor. Warranty on the
repair will only include the new parts installed and labor for one
year. This boiler is the original heating unit installed in 1967,`
it' s efficiency rating is not known but assumed very poor.
An estimate has been received from the City' s HVAC service to
replace the non-efficient boiler with an eighty percent efficient
system for $3,500 . Warranty on this unit is two years from date of
installation. This unit is a separate system from the rest of the
garage . It is evident that the future energy audit would have
produced the same results.
Staff seeks Council direction as to the repair of the current
boiler, or it' s replacement .
11 ,
...4
Michael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
RECOMMENDATION;
