Performance Evaluation forms were distributed to Department Heads to be reviewed <br /> for feedback in preparation for the 1994 performance Evaluations. <br /> Job Descriptions have been distributed to Department Heads to be updated during the <br /> performance evaluation process. By the end of this year/early next, all employee's job <br /> descriptions will have been updated and include Americans with Disabilities Act <br /> required language. <br /> UNION CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS <br /> During the third quarter, much research was conducted preparing for arbitration which <br /> is schedule for December 6, 1994. Preparation included researching the past cases <br /> of the arbitrator, conducting surveys about pay and benefits and running pay equity <br /> analysis.' Samantha and I have also met several times with Labor Relation's <br /> representatives in preparation for arbitration. <br /> TRAINING <br /> In response to Focus 2000 feedback and in accordance with the City's past practice <br /> to offer annual training to its employees, a customer service training session was <br /> conducted at City Hall during the morning of September 14. To help the facilitator, <br /> Georgine Madden of ProSource, customize the seminar to meet our needs, an <br /> employee customer service committee was formed to make suggestions and offer <br /> input. All staff members were required to participate, and as part of the program <br /> were offered the opportunity to endorse the Mission and Vision Statements that were <br /> drafted by the Focus 2000 Steering Committee and adopted by the City Council. <br /> SPECIAL PROJECTS <br /> FOCUS 2000 <br /> The Focus 2000 Steering Committee met in September and will continue to meet <br /> quarterly to monitor the implementation of Focus 2000 Action Steps and Goals. At <br /> this meeting, the committee: 1) reviewed the Action Steps already implemented as <br /> directed by the City Council, 2) discussed the Focus 2000 Implementation Plan and <br /> how to get more feedback on it from stakeholders, 3) discussed the absence of the <br /> Financial Advisory Task Force from the Focus 2000 Implementation Plan and the <br /> intentions of the Council for implementing the Focus 2000 process. Also discussed <br /> was the future direction of Focus 2000 and the role of the Steering Committee. In <br /> addition, the Committee would like to be more involved and is scheduled to give <br /> quarterly reports to the Council, include progress reports in the City newsletter and <br /> have a Steering Committee member present at future budget hearings and meetings. <br /> CITY HALL EXPANSION <br /> The City Hall Expansion project was finally completed this quarter. This involved <br /> tieing up some loose ends and following up on some incidentals that arose after the <br />
