PARKS,
RECREATION
AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* The "big yellow submarine" (water truck) is not the "big white beluga whale".
It looks great after its sandblasting and painting ordeal. I understand that blue
and gray stripes will be put on yet.
An engine was found for the truck to replace the old one and the Parks crew
has been installing that engine this week. We hope to have it up and running
for weekend flooding.
* Residents living around Groveland Park have volunteered to do weekend
flooding again this year. What a nice gift of service that these people offer to
their neighborhood!! I'm not sure of all those that will be doing the work, but I
do know that Ernie LaPore is the spearhead of this group.
RECREATION:
* The numbers for Holiday Caroling continue to rise. Over 60 people have now
called in for the evening of caroling. Two busses (snow trains) were ordered to
accommodate this large group. It should be lots of fun! DECEMBER 17TH!!
* Mary is chaperoning a middle school day program at Vertical Endeavors, a rock
climbing / instruction place. The Middle School students have the day off this
day, Friday, December 9.
* We have prepared a great package of Winter activities in this coming
newsletter. We have planned a Winter Spectacular program of activities - in
response to a recommendation from the Focus 2000 Neighborhoods and
Housing group.
* Over 20 entries have been received for the Holiday Lights contest. The number
of participants continues to increase each year. Monetary awards are donated
by the Lion's Club.
