I attended the AMM's annual regional breakfast with the Mayor on Tuesday morning
(7:30 a.m.!). The Metro Livability Act was discussed at length. Jennifer is in contact
with the Met Council representatives to make sure that we obtain the necessary
documentation this month to present to the Council for consideration of participating
in the programs.
***********************
I will be out of the office most of the day on Friday. I have an ICMA/MCMA meeting in
Duluth in the afternoon and in-laws in the evening I will say no more on that
subject
***********************
Paul-is-on-vacation through-July-30th. The-Chief-wi l-update-you-on-Bobby-Nelson
(Everyone, please be sure and call him before next Wednesday and let him know
how much you will be thinking of him). Michele is on vacation all of next week. I will
be on vacation from August 11 through August 27- in California, on the beach, away
from the heat, the humidity, the bugs, the storms okay, okay, so I'll be in
earthquake territory. It the "Big One" hits, what stories I will have to tell....if I live to tell
about it!
Have a good weekend and see you on Monday!
PERSONNEL
Cable TV Technician/Producer- Four applicants were interviewed Wednesday, July 12
for the Cable TV Technician/Producer position. Mary Saarion, Jerry Skelly Sr., Dale
Irving and I interviewed the qualified candidates who applied for the position. A
recommendation from the interview panel is included in the agenda packet.
Recording Secretary - Closing date for the recording secretary is Friday, July 14. To
date we have received zero applications. We have received a few inquiries for the
position but no applications. (Hopefully we will receive some applications before
Friday).
TUG
A TUG meeting was held Thursday morning at Shoreview Community Center.
Continued from the previous meeting, discussion focused on CDL drug and alcohol
testing programs and services available to cities. The Department of Transportation
has implemented an alcohol and drug testing requirement for safety-sensitive
employees. Counties and cities that have 49 or less safety sensitive employees must
implement a program by January 1, 1996. TUG members have organized a Drug
Testing Subcommittee to research companies who can service cities and counties
who do not comply with the new regulations.
Lynnette
