Many people have been inquiring <br /> whether or not the pond will be treated. Since we only have <br /> funding for one treatment, we have requested mid-summer <br /> treatment. <br /> * Along with the rest of the metropolitan lakes, we have a <br /> problem with swimmer' s itch at Lakeside Park. The hot <br /> weather increases the severity of swimmer' s itch. I have <br /> contacted other cities and counties who are also <br /> experiencing the problem. There is not much that anyone can <br /> do. The copper sulfate treatments are not being successful <br /> this year because of the hot weather. However, Lakeside <br /> Park continues to have people interested in using the water <br /> craft. Many picnics have been reserved at Lakeside. Also, <br /> four nights of softball leagues and sand volleyball leagues <br /> are scheduled at Lakeside Park each week. <br /> RECREATION: <br /> * Post Festival clean-up, thank-you letters for participating <br /> volunteers, inventory and storage of equipment and supplies <br /> for next year and counting and depositing monies is a big <br /> job after Festival. Two days after Festival our offices are <br /> back to normal. <br /> * Reservations for "Anything Goes" has continued to increase <br /> as time comes closer to opening. <br /> * Adult softball league playoffs will be held this weekend and <br /> the following weekend. The playoffs determines which teams <br /> go on to compete in District Tournaments. <br /> * We have really appreciated the use of the Mermaid bus for <br /> our Summer Playground trips.
