;):71:77119:77:717777771:77:77:71111/F PARKS: * Post-Festival clean up and returning rental equipment and supplies was a priority this week. * Regular preventative maintenance was performed on many of the equipment pieces this week. * Regular mowing, trash removal, sign message changes and athletic field grooming continued throughout the week. * Silver View Park pond has been scheduled for treatment between mid to end July. Many people have been inquiring whether or not the pond will be treated. Since we only have funding for one treatment, we have requested mid-summer treatment. * Along with the rest of the metropolitan lakes, we have a problem with swimmer' s itch at Lakeside Park. The hot weather increases the severity of swimmer' s itch. I have contacted other cities and counties who are also experiencing the problem. There is not much that anyone can do. The copper sulfate treatments are not being successful this year because of the hot weather. However, Lakeside Park continues to have people interested in using the water craft. Many picnics have been reserved at Lakeside. Also, four nights of softball leagues and sand volleyball leagues are scheduled at Lakeside Park each week. RECREATION: * Post Festival clean-up, thank-you letters for participating volunteers, inventory and storage of equipment and supplies for next year and counting and depositing monies is a big job after Festival. Two days after Festival our offices are back to normal. * Reservations for "Anything Goes" has continued to increase as time comes closer to opening. * Adult softball league playoffs will be held this weekend and the following weekend. The playoffs determines which teams go on to compete in District Tournaments. * We have really appreciated the use of the Mermaid bus for our Summer Playground trips. However, this Thursday the bus
