UNAPPROVED <br /> Mounds View City Council Page 17 <br /> Regular Meeting June 26, 1995 <br /> 1 Mr. Harrington advised staff has reviewed the plan and found <br /> 2 it to be in compliance with all requirements of the Municipal <br /> 3 Code for a facility of this type. The Planning Commission has <br /> 4 also reviewed the request and recommends approval. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 John Osterlund, representing the School District, advised this <br /> 7 is the first in a five-year plan to upgrade elementary schools <br /> 8 within the District. He explained this expansion will help <br /> 9 reduce overcrowding by providing three new classrooms, three <br /> 10 small conference breakouts, and a new kindergarten room. He <br /> 11 further advised—they—have—received—bids which will be <br /> 12 presented to the School Board and hope to start construction <br /> 13 this summer and open in January, 1996. Mr. Osterlund stated <br /> 14 they intend to invite the Mayor and Councilmembers to the <br /> 15 opening. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Blanchard to Adopt Resolution No. 4788 <br /> 18 Approving a Development Review for Pinewood Elementary School, <br /> 19 Planning Case No. 418-95 <br /> 20 <br /> 21 VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> 22 <br /> 23 D. Consideration of Resolution No. 4789 Hiring Dawn Postudensek <br /> 24 as Administrative Intern <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, explained after Tim <br /> 27 Cruikshank left the position of Assistant to the City <br /> 28 Administrator to accept the position of Lauderdale City <br /> 29 Administrator, it was decided to not fill that position and <br /> 30 instead hire an intern to assume some of the projects Mr. <br /> 31 Cruikshank had been doing. These projects include the CIP <br /> 32 Program, MIS coordination, working on the network, personnel <br /> 33 issues, Focus 2000, and public information. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Ms. Orduno explained based on Council direction, staff <br /> 36 advertised for an Administrative Intern. Over 25 applications <br /> 37 were received and seven were selected for an interview an <br /> 38 In-basket exercise consisting of a test of computer skills, <br /> 39 writing skills, attention to detail, re-creation of the Human <br /> 40 Resources Budget, and identifying mistakes on the budget <br /> 41 format. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Ms. Orduno advised Dawn Postudensek, who will be receiving her <br /> 44 Masters Degree in Public Administration next year, performed <br /> 45 exceptionally well. She recommended Ms. Postudensek be hired <br /> 46 as Administrative Intern, effective July 10, 1995, with a <br /> 47 six-month probation at an hourly wage of $9.25. If <br /> 48 satisfactory after the six-month review, that salary could be <br /> 49 adjusted. <br /> 50 <br />
