UNA
Mounds View City Council Page 20
Regular Meeting June 26, 1995
Councilmember Trude reported on the Arsenal meeting she
attended where discussion took place regarding the reuse
of approximately 50% of Arsenal property for public and
park purposes. She advised it was determined an American
Indian did not have claim to any of the Arsenal land.

Councilmember Trude reported Congressman Vento has
assured that no gambling operation will be considered for
the Arsenal property, unless a Federal agency were to
authorize that type of use. Also, Alliant Tech was just
awarded $-95 milllon—munitians—contTact which requires
very large safety areas where nothing can be developed.
This includes the area Arden Hills plans to develop into
housing, retail commercial, and manufacturing (adjacent
to Highways 10 and 96) .

Duane McCarty asked if the Alliant Tech contract will
result in an economic boost for Mounds View.
Councilmember Quick stated it will probably not but it
will keep the current crews working. He advised the
munitions are not loaded at this facility.

Mayor Linke speculated it will take a long time before
this property can be reused, especially since the
contamination must first be addressed and there have been
cutbacks in the Superfund.

Councilmember Trude agreed.

Report of Mayor Linke:

a. Reported on a letter received from Ms. Scott dated
June 14, 1995, expressing her appreciation to the
Mounds View Police Department, in particular
Investigator Larry Siluk, for their assistance in
resolving a burglary and obtaining restitution.

b. Reported on the June 24, 1995, opening of The
Bridges Golf Course and dedication of the Club
House to Richard Meyers. He stated this is a
deserved acolyte to Mr. Meyers for his great
contribution to Mounds View.

c. Reported on activities to take place at the July 9,
1995, Festival in the Park, location of parking and
times for shuttle services.

Report of Administrator: No report.
