MEMO
July 26, 1995
To: Mary Saarion, Director of Parks and Recreation
From: Rick Wriskey, City Forester
Re: Silver View Park Ball Field Screen
A plan to increase the screen and protection from errant balls east of the ballfields at Silver
View Park could be implemented over time by planting four (4) large trees per year into
the existing landscape. An assessment showed room for about 12 more trees in the
affected area. Many of the trees already in this area are growing fast and at some of the
tighter spacings (15-20) should be growing into each other.
A mix of evergreens and aggressive shade trees could be planted. I would recommend that
the evergreens be Black Hills or Colorado Spruce,6-7' at purchasing time. A good shade
tree for this area would be Autumn Blaze maple planted at about 2-2 1/2" of caliper (about
12-14' tall).
These plantings could be incorporated into the annual "large" tree planting program.
G:\WP\FRMV95\FLDSCRN.MEM
