•• <br /> THIS IS <br /> IT . 1 . . <br /> For the Week of August 14, 1995 - August 18, 1995 <br /> ADMINISTRATION <br /> ADMINISTRATION <br /> Garment Graphics: <br /> • Economic Development Manager in Blaine called me regarding Garment Graphics. <br /> Apparently, they have started searching for alternative sites to build a new facility. <br /> Garment Graphic's lease will expire in December of 1996 and they will initially <br /> need 120,000 s.f. expandable to 250,000 s.f. Apparently, they are very dissatisfied <br /> with Everest and Ramsey County taxes. They do not want to lose their employees <br /> therefore they are looking in Blaine and have located 15 acres as a possible site <br /> for their facility. Attached is an article that was in City Business regarding Garment <br /> Graphics. <br /> Hotel Development: <br /> • This week I had a meeting with a potential developer, Anoka County Chamber, <br /> New Brighton Chamber and Charlie Hall. We learned that any substantial hotel <br /> project would need a market demand study prior to consideration by developers <br /> due to the difficulty in financing the projects. The developer gave us excellent <br /> insight regarding the structure of these projects and suggested the study look at <br /> the highest and best use of the property rather than restrict it to Charlie's plan. <br /> Charlie was quite offended by this but realistically that would be the best way to <br /> structure the study. In addition, the developer suggested using a firm that is <br /> located outside of Minnesota. This way they would have no preconceived notions <br /> on the area. Anoka Chamber, New Brighton City & Chamber, Mounds View and <br /> Blaine Sports Center will be meeting at the end of this month to discuss the <br />
