Ranaom water—meter readings were taken. Th- <br /> 12 commercial meters were running approximately 94% accurate and <br /> 13 residential were running approximately 98% accurate. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Councilmember Hankner stated that the Council has begun long <br /> 16 range planning instead of doing crisis management and that the <br /> 17 water meter system does have to be taken care of. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Mayor Linke stated that the Council has three options before <br /> 20 them. The proposals are: <br /> 21 <br /> 22 O Change out all meters to phone read: <br /> 23 <br /> 24 $830, 000 Total Cost of Project <br /> 25 $500,000 Loan from Special Projects Fund (to be <br /> 26 paid back at 7% for 12 years) <br /> 27 <br /> 28 $330, 000 WAC Fund Contribution <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Projected increased revenue: $31,500 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 O Change out Commercial accounts to phone read; residential <br /> 33 to touch read: <br /> 34 <br /> 35 $505,914 Total Cost of Project <br /> 36 $305,914 WAC Fund Contribution <br /> 37 $200, 000 Loan from Special Projects Fund (to be <br /> 38 paid back at 7% for 10 years <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Projected increased revenue: $31,500 <br /> 41 <br /> 42 O Do nothing to the water meter system. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Councilmember Trude commented that she thinks a public hearing <br /> 45 should be held on this item to get input from the public and <br /> 46 that no action be taken at tonight's meeting. She commented <br /> 47 that this is the largest expenditure proposed since she was <br /> 48 elected and served on the Council. <br /> 49 <br />
