This morning (Thursday), I interviewed the Cable Technician candidate, Sue Henry. I
found her to be very personable, a strong personality who can hold her own and very
creative. Her resume and application are included in your packet. She asked to have
the weekend to think over the job and will let me know her decision on Monday. I
believe she would "fit' very well with the organization.
************************
Don't forget the Council meeting next week is on Tuesday! I would like to thank the
Council for their gracious actions in acknowledging the Jewish New Year. I will be off
Monday, celebrating the new year and will see you all on Tuesday.
Samantha
Lions Presentation:
• I will be making a presentation to the Lions Club this Thursday regarding
Mounds View's Economic Development Programs. I will explain how and why
the position was created, about the supporting entities and their role, the goals
of the program and accomplishments in 1995. Group presentations are an
excellent opportunity for the City to educate people on the programs and
answer any questions they may have regarding activities in the City.
Anoka County Chamber of Commerce:
• The Anoka County Chamber of Commerce has changed their name to the
Metro North Chamber of Commerce. The board met to discuss their support
for the hotel market study and have voted to contribute $1,000 to the study
and raise $2,500 from local businesses. Charlie Hall has mailed out a request
for proposal to several consulting firms for the market study and is very
committed to the project. Charlie and the Metro North Chamber will be at the
October work session to discuss the project and the possibility and importance
of Mounds View's support.
Highway 10 Development:
• I have contacted Opus Corporation, Ryan Companies and Griffin Realty
regarding the blue house and adjacent land. All three companies will be driving
by and making their suggestions for development of the site. These companies
have experience working with Cities and redevelopment projects. In addition,
Lynnette is working on a report that explains the potential benefits of
redevelopment of Highway 10. Once the report is complete we hope to make
a presentation to Council followed by a public forum.
Cathy
