• <br /> Metro Division <br /> GUIDELINES FOR USE OF RIGI-IT- <br /> OF-WAY FOR SPECIAL EVENTS <br /> Page 2 <br /> ► Use of Right-of-Way. <br /> Within each of these divisions, the guidelines are categorized as follows: <br /> Freeways Includes interchange areas on expressways <br /> Expressways Does not include interchange areas <br /> Two-Lane, Two- Spe Glx i 40 m; s per hour-or-greater ncludes segments-that <br /> Way Higfiways may.haveadditionaF.-lanes"for passing, turning or.bypassing./ <br /> and for short'segmentsof four or_more lanes <br /> Low Speed Roads Speed limit less than 40 miles per hour; generally includes those <br /> segments of trunk highways that pass though a city and/or serve <br /> a city street-type function and all frontage roads <br /> SIGNS, BANNERS AND DECORATIONS <br /> Directional signs, non-directional signs,banners and overhead decorations will be permitted, <br /> only on"low speed roads(subject to the following criteria: <br /> ► A legate public interest must be served. <br /> ► Requests shall be made through the offices of or by the city-in which the <br /> devices would be installed. (If the location is not within a city, requests may <br /> be made directly to the roadway regulations supervisors. Requests may also <br /> be made directly to the supervisors in those instances where a single event <br /> may take place within several cities, e. g., "The Parade of Homes.") <br /> ► Directional signing shall conform to criteria specified in the Minnesota <br /> Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the Minnesota Department <br /> of Transportation Traffic Engineering Manual or as directed by the division <br /> traffic engineer for traffic services. <br /> ► Directional signing shall contain directional information for the event only; no <br /> other advertisement shall be permitted. <br /> ► .
