Metro Division <br /> GUIDELINES FOR USE OF RIGI-IT- <br /> OF-WAY FOR SPECIAL EVENTS <br /> Page 3 <br /> ► Non directional signs or Tanners shall display only name of the event and <br /> the time scheduled for it no other advertisement shall be permitted. <br /> ► Lettering and overall size of non-directional signs or banners shall be <br /> adequate to assure legibility. <br /> ► Non directional signs,or banners shall not be. placed in such a manner so as <br /> to inerf a with obstiuct ordlstract motorists' attention'frorr official traffic 't <br /> CQ€1t vices <br /> ► Signs or bane i shall not b& Iaced-in-such a manner so as to interfere with <br /> or obstruct minimum sight distance. <br /> ► No changeable message signs of the type used for temporary or permanent <br /> traffic control will be permitted. (Such changeable message devices may be <br /> used for traffic control purposes at the discretion of the division traffic <br /> engineer for traffic services.) <br /> ► Lighting, flashers, flags, rotating devices or other mechanical devices which <br /> produce motions of an attention-getting manner will not be permitted in <br /> conjunction with or adjacent to non-directional signs or banners. Such items <br /> used in conjunction with decorations shall be considered on a case by case <br /> basis. <br /> ► The minimum clearancefor all overhead signs, banners and decorations.shall-J <br /> be 22 feet above the roadway and shoulder except here mounting on an <br /> existing structure_has been permitted. All devices mounted on the roadside <br /> shall be located on the outer portion of the right-of-way except for those <br /> devices to be used for traffic control. <br /> ► Adequate police protection and traffic control devices shall be used when an <br /> overhead device is being installed and removed. There shall be no <br /> interference with traffic on weekdays other than between 9:00 A. M. and 3:00 <br /> P. M. or as directed in the permit. Traffic shall be maintained, unimpeded, <br /> at all times other than for the brief periods when traffic must be stopped for <br /> erection or removal. <br /> ► If permanent signing relating to an event is in place, additional signing may <br /> be partially or totally restricted. <br /> ► Non-directional signs or banners shall not be in place longer than two weeks <br /> prior to an event and shall be removed within three days after the last day of _; <br />
