Metro Division GUIDELINES FOR USE OF RIGI-IT- OF-WAY FOR SPECIAL EVENTS Page 3 ► Non directional signs or Tanners shall display only name of the event and the time scheduled for it no other advertisement shall be permitted. ► Lettering and overall size of non-directional signs or banners shall be adequate to assure legibility. ► Non directional signs,or banners shall not be. placed in such a manner so as to inerf a with obstiuct ordlstract motorists' attention'frorr official traffic 't CQ€1t vices ► Signs or bane i shall not b& Iaced-in-such a manner so as to interfere with or obstruct minimum sight distance. ► No changeable message signs of the type used for temporary or permanent traffic control will be permitted. (Such changeable message devices may be used for traffic control purposes at the discretion of the division traffic engineer for traffic services.) ► Lighting, flashers, flags, rotating devices or other mechanical devices which produce motions of an attention-getting manner will not be permitted in conjunction with or adjacent to non-directional signs or banners. Such items used in conjunction with decorations shall be considered on a case by case basis. ► The minimum clearancefor all overhead signs, banners and decorations.shall-J be 22 feet above the roadway and shoulder except here mounting on an existing structure_has been permitted. All devices mounted on the roadside shall be located on the outer portion of the right-of-way except for those devices to be used for traffic control. ► Adequate police protection and traffic control devices shall be used when an overhead device is being installed and removed. There shall be no interference with traffic on weekdays other than between 9:00 A. M. and 3:00 P. M. or as directed in the permit. Traffic shall be maintained, unimpeded, at all times other than for the brief periods when traffic must be stopped for erection or removal. ► If permanent signing relating to an event is in place, additional signing may be partially or totally restricted. ► Non-directional signs or banners shall not be in place longer than two weeks prior to an event and shall be removed within three days after the last day of _;
